Dataset on a multidimensional dataset of vocational interests and academic performance for automated career counseling among Vietnamese secondary students

Large-scale survey dataset on career education and guidance for N = 4,910 lower secondary school students across seven provinces and cities representing different geographical regions of Vietnam (Hanoi, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thai Nguyen, Ha Tinh, Da Nang, and Dong Nai). Data in sections: (1) Demographic information and academic performance; (2) The level of participation in school-based career education activities; and (3) Individual career orientation, including a shortened Holland Code (RIASEC) test and an assessment of students' career guidance needs.

Steps to reproduce
The study employed a stratified random sampling method combined with convenient cluster sampling of schools to ensure geographical, socioeconomic, and institutional diversity. Data collection was carried out from late 2025 to early 2026. Paper-based questionnaires were administered directly in classrooms with the assistance of school administrators and teachers. Students were fully informed of the research objectives, guaranteed absolute personal data confidentiality, and participated voluntarily, completing the questionnaire within 15–20 minutes.
