Description

We present magnetic susceptibility (SUS), abundance and carbon isotope composition of total organic carbon (TOC), BC abundance and br-GDGT-derived mean annual temperature (MAT) and mean annual precipitation (MAP) records over a glacial-interglacial scale during ~2.1-0.6 Ma from a loess/paleosol sequence at Shangchen (SC, 34°13′33″N, 109°28′39″E) and br-GDGT-derived MAT and MAP records in several loess/paleosol layers (L6, L9, L13, S14, S15, L22, S22, L25, S25, L26 and S26) from Duanjiapo (DJP, 34°11′15″N, 109°13′58″E) on southeastern Chinese Loess Plateau. Our data demonstrate four climate-vegetation periods during 2.1-0.6 Ma at SC, high climatic and environmental variability during the early mid-Pleistocene climate transition (MPT, ~1.26-0.9 Ma) at SC and a cooling and aridification trend since the beginning of MPT (~1.26 Ma) in this area. We assume the data can be used to reconstruct the paleoclimate and paleoenvironment during ~2.1-0.6 Ma on southeastern Chinese Loess Plateau.
