Description

This dataset contains the numerical and experimental data supporting the results presented in the article "Broadband ventilated acoustic silencing using a phase-gradient ultraopen metamaterial with integrated Helmholtz resonators." The dataset includes simulated transmittance and transmission-loss spectra obtained using COMSOL Multiphysics, measured time-domain acoustic responses, and the corresponding derived insertion-loss data. The data are provided to facilitate reproducibility and further analysis of the reported results.

Steps to reproduce

The dataset contains simulated and experimentally measured acoustic transmission data for the investigated specimen. The numerical results were obtained using a frequency-domain acoustic simulation model. The simulated transmittance data were exported as frequency-dependent transmittance values, while the simulated transmission-loss data were exported over the investigated frequency range. Experimental measurements were performed at discrete excitation frequencies under two conditions: without the specimen and with the specimen. For each excitation frequency and measurement condition, the acquired time-domain signal was recorded as ADC amplitude values together with the corresponding sample index. The measured records are provided in Measured_Time_Domain.csv. The experimentally derived insertion-loss results are provided in Derived_Insertion_Loss.csv. This file contains the excitation frequency, the corresponding aliased frequency, and the derived insertion loss in dB. To reproduce the analysis, import the supplied CSV files into a suitable data-analysis program such as Origin/OriginPro, MATLAB, Python, R, or equivalent software. The simulated transmittance and transmission-loss files can be plotted directly against frequency. For the experimental data, separate the records according to Frequency_Hz and Condition, and analyze the Amplitude_ADC values using the appropriate signal-processing procedure and acquisition parameters from the original experiment. The measured dataset contains Sample_Index rather than an explicit time column. Therefore, reconstruction of the absolute time axis requires the original sampling interval or sampling frequency of the acquisition system. The insertion-loss values supplied in Derived_Insertion_Loss.csv should be treated as the reported derived results. Complete reproduction of the insertion-loss calculation additionally requires the original experimental signal-processing procedure, reference definition, and acquisition settings. The complete numerical model can be reproduced only when the corresponding simulation geometry, material properties, boundary conditions, mesh settings, solver settings, and frequency-domain simulation parameters are available. COMSOL model files may be provided separately by the corresponding author if required.
