Structured multi-criteria decision support and engine-driven nickel–titanium instrument selection: A scenario-based within-subject study of decision change and acceptability among 271 endodontists
Description
Participant-level responses of the 271 specialist endodontists (Turkish Endodontic Society) who took part in the study, translated from the Turkish thesis dataset. Each participant chose among three virtual engine-driven NiTi instrument systems in two fixed-order scenarios (Scenario 1: no prior experience; Scenario 2: prior experience), first unaided and then after scoring the same systems with the Deniz–Orhan multi-criteria model. Data were collected in one-to-one, face-to-face interviews between 1 January 2024 and 1 January 2025. Approved by the Eskişehir Osmangazi University Non-Interventional Clinical Research Ethics Committee (approval date 31 October 2023; protocol 2023-146; decision no. 07). Participation was voluntary with written informed consent. No personally identifiable information was collected.

Systems are coded 1, 2, 3. The model-recommended system was System 1 in Scenario 1 (composite scores: System 1 0.807, System 3 0.802, System 2 0.723) and System 3 in Scenario 2 (System 3 0.826, System 2 0.777, System 1 0.765). Items 1.5–1.6 and 2.5–2.6 were asked only when the unaided choice matched the model recommendation, and Items 1.7–1.8 and 2.7–2.8 only when it did not; a blank cell in these columns means ‘not asked’. There are no other missing responses. The derived columns (s1_revised, s1_willingness, s2_revised, s2_willingness) are formulas based on the recorded answers.
