Description

This dataset contains the complete empirical materials collected for a longitudinal Design-Based Research (DBR) study investigating the development of Indonesian pre-service English teachers’ self-efficacy through Technology-Mediated Task-Based Language Teaching (TMTBLT). The study was conducted at the English Education Department of Sintuwu Maroso University and implemented across three iterative design cycles. The dataset includes five major data types: Questionnaire data – pre- and post-intervention survey responses measuring constructs such as reflective teaching, collaborative learning, technology integration, and teacher self-efficacy. Files include the questionnaire instrument, anonymized responses in .csv format, and a codebook detailing variable definitions and scales. Video recordings – anonymized classroom observations capturing technology-mediated task-based teaching and collaborative learning practices, accompanied by transcripts and contextual notes. Audio recordings – semi-structured interviews and reflective discussions with participants, stored in .wav and .mp3 formats with corresponding transcripts and metadata sheets. Statistical analysis files – SPSS data (.sav), syntax files (.sps), and output summaries documenting quantitative analyses across design cycles. Qualitative content analysis materials – anonymized transcripts, coding frameworks, and NVivo project files (.nvp) that outline the thematic analysis procedures and findings. All files have been ethically reviewed and fully anonymized to protect participant identities. Documentation is provided in a detailed README file, including methodological notes, coding frameworks, and analytic procedures. This dataset supports transparency, reproducibility, and reuse for further studies on teacher education, technology integration, and task-based language pedagogy.

Prior to dataset creation, all data underwent ethical screening and anonymization. Personal identifiers, such as participant names, institutional affiliations, and facial images, were removed or pseudonymized. Informed consent for data collection and potential anonymized sharing was obtained from all participants under the approved ethical protocol. Producing Datasets by Data Type 1 Questionnaire Data The questionnaire data consisted of participants’ responses to structured items measuring constructs such as technology integration, reflective teaching, collaborative learning, and self-efficacy. The following materials were prepared: • Questionnaire instrument: stored in .pdf and .docx formats. • Responses dataset: cleaned and compiled in .csv and .xlsx formats. Data cleaning involved checking for incomplete responses, removing duplicates, and ensuring consistent variable naming. Each variable name corresponded to the item codes 2 Video Recordings Video data were recorded during classroom teaching and collaborative sessions. To protect privacy: • Participant faces were blurred using video editing software. • Only segments illustrating pedagogical interactions were retained. • Each file was named according to the session and date (e.g., Video_Session1_Apr2023.mp4). 3 Audio Recordings Audio data comprised semi-structured interviews and reflective discussions with participants. All identifiable speech (names, locations) was anonymized during transcription. Each recording was saved in .wav format for high quality and also in .mp3 format for accessibility. Each audio file was accompanied by: • A transcript in .docx format. • A metadata table describing participant pseudonym, recording date, duration, and language used. • A section within the README describing transcription conventions and context (e.g., pauses, emphasis, non-verbal cues). 4 Statistical Analysis Data Quantitative data were derived from questionnaire responses and experimental measures across design cycles. The data were analyzed using SPSS, and the following files were prepared: • Raw data file (.sav and .csv) containing participant-level responses. • Cleaned dataset with derived variables and missing-value treatment. • Syntax file (.sps) documenting all statistical procedures. • Output summary in .pdf showing descriptive and inferential results. 5 Qualitative Content Analysis Data Qualitative data included interview transcripts, reflective journals, and observation notes analyzed thematically. The following files were created: • Raw textual data: anonymized transcripts in .docx or .txt format. • Coded data: exported from NVivo (.nvp) containing thematic nodes and memos. • Codebook: a spreadsheet (.xlsx) listing themes, subthemes, definitions, and example quotations.
