Description

Dataset Description This dataset supports the study titled “Agroecological Regulation of Soil Functioning and Legacy Organochlorine Pesticide Persistence in Tropical Cocoa and Arable Systems.” It examines how agroecological conditions and land-use systems influence soil properties, pesticide persistence, and contaminant patterns in tropical agricultural soils. The study hypothesized that agroecological zones and land-use practices regulate soil functioning and affect the persistence and distribution of legacy organochlorine pesticide residues. The dataset includes GC-MS chromatograms and instrument outputs, pesticide concentration data, soil physicochemical properties, and multivariate statistical analyses (SIMPER). The data were generated from field-collected soil samples from cocoa and arable systems, followed by laboratory analyses of soil properties and pesticide residues using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The GC-MS files provide chemical profiles and compound identification, while pesticide concentration tables quantify residue levels across samples. Soil property data provide information on edaphic conditions influencing pesticide behaviour and soil functioning. The dataset enables evaluation of relationships among land use, soil characteristics, and pesticide persistence. It can support research on tropical soil quality assessment, environmental monitoring, ecological risk evaluation, and modelling of contaminant dynamics in agricultural ecosystems.
