Governance Convergence Across the BRICS–EU Divide: A Club-Convergence Analysis of 32 Countries, 2000–2024

Description

This dataset provides the complete replication package for "Governance Convergence Across the BRICS–EU Divide: A Club-Convergence Analysis of 32 Countries, 2000–2024" (manuscript targeted at Economic Change and Restructuring, Springer). The study applies the Phillips-Sul (2007) log-t club-convergence test to a 32-country panel (5 BRICS + EU-27, 2000–2024) built from World Bank Worldwide Governance Indicators (Control of Corruption, Political Stability and Absence of Violence/Terrorism, Voice and Accountability). It tests whether BRICS and EU-27 members converge toward common governance-quality clubs, identifies club membership, and probes robustness across bootstrap inference, alternative scaling schemes, time-trim sensitivity, ordering-variable choice, core-group thresholds, subperiods, influential-country exclusion, and an independent machine-learning/network cross-validation of the club structure. The deposit contains: (1) raw World Bank source data and the single cleaned/canonical panel, hash-guarded so downstream scripts cannot silently run on a stale or hand-edited copy; (2) all 15 analysis scripts (R and Python, numbered in execution order) plus two verification utilities — a manuscript-build regression check and an automated output-freshness gate that re-runs every script and confirms its committed output is reproduced exactly; (3) every script's saved output file, i.e. the exact figures cited in the manuscript; (4) an R package dependency lockfile (renv.lock, 28 packages with content hashes) documenting the exact computational environment; (5) a reconciliation table mapping every manuscript number and table to its generating script and output file, including two real defects found and fixed during verification; (6) a README describing the package layout, environment, and how to re-run and verify it. The package is self-contained and, subject to the absolute-path note in the README, reproduces every quantitative result in the manuscript from raw data forward.
