PulseLibrary: A Dataset of Diverse Images Across Six Commercially Important Pulse Species
Description
PulseLibrary is a comprehensive collection of high-quality images representing six distinct pulse species of major commercial importance: grass pea (Lathyrus sativus), red lentil (Lens culinaris), black gram (Vigna mungo), mung bean (Vigna radiata), peas (Pisum sativum), and chickpea (Cicer arietinum). With a total of 3,123 meticulously curated images, captured across varied lighting conditions, backgrounds, containers, and viewing angles, this dataset is specifically designed to cater to industry needs. It serves as a valuable resource for machine learning, image recognition, and automation within the pulse and food-processing industries. PulseLibrary enables businesses to enhance operations such as grain sorting, quality control, and inventory management, and supports the development of camera-based screening tools for verifying pulse authenticity, a pressing concern given the routine substitution of cheaper varieties for higher-priced ones in retail trade.
