Description

This dataset contains survey responses collected from undergraduate students at the National University of Colombia, La Paz campus, during the 2025 academic year. The survey was designed to explore factors that students perceive as influencing their persistence in higher education and their intention to consider leaving their academic program. The underlying research assumption is that student retention is shaped by a combination of demographic background, socioeconomic conditions, academic experiences, and perceived sources of support. Data were collected through an online questionnaire administered between August and December 2025. The cleaned dataset includes 333 responses and 33 variables. These variables cover several domains: demographic characteristics, socioeconomic context, prior schooling background, perceptions of academic experience, perceived family and institutional support, and self-reported dropout intention across personal, socioeconomic, and academic domains. The dataset also includes open-ended responses describing student challenges and perceived factors influencing persistence, which were thematically coded to support structured analysis. The dataset can be used for descriptive research, educational analytics, and studies of dropout intention and student retention. Because it combines structured survey variables with coded qualitative responses, it also supports mixed-method research and methodological work on survey data preparation. The data have been anonymized by removing direct identifiers, and users are encouraged to report results in aggregated form and interpret the findings within the institutional context in which the survey was conducted.
