Data for different plastic category soils mixed with waste plastic materials for soil reinforcement
Description
Waste plastic materials have been causing environmental pollution problems. Soil reinforcement using waste plastic materials can improve the strength of the soil. Hence, it will be beneficial for different civil engineering structures like earth retaining structures, embankment, foundations, road construction, etc. The data on geotechnical properties of soils having medium plastic, high plastic and low plastic category were generated for the different locations of Kanpur city, India. Waste plastics like polythene bags and plastic bottles cut into uniform small pieces, made perforated, mixed in different proportions with these soils and analyzed for different geotechnical properties. The researcher can use these data to find out the bearing capacity and California bearing ratio for the different proportions of the reinforced soils. In addition, these data can help for carrying out study for other locations of the Kanpur city.

Soil samples collected, mixed proportions prepared and analyzed for different geotechnical properties. Soils analyzed for high plasticity category, medium plastic category and low plastic category were mixed with different proportions of waste plastic materials. Raw soils analyzed for compaction characteristics, liquid limit, plastic limit, plasticity index, particle size, shear strength parameters and California bearing ratio (CBR). Mixed proportions were also analyzed for different geotechnical properties.
