Description

These data present the Beam-Spin Asymmetry (A_LU) in exclusive pion electroproduction, p(e,e'pi+)n as measured in the KaonLT experiment. Files titled with the central kinematics of the setting, e.g. "Q2p1x0p21.csv," contain A_LU as a function of phi for each bin in Mandelstam t for the given setting. The file "ALUsinphi.csv" contains experimental kinematics and a summary of the sin(phi) moment of the asymmetry, and its errors, in each t-bin, across all settings. These data were collected at Jefferson Laboratory Hall C as a part of the KaonLT experiment. They were analyzed using a combination of the standard Hall C analysis software and standalone analysis scripts in CERN ROOT. These data are intended to accompany the paper, "Probing hard/soft factorization via beam-spin asymmetry in exclusive pion electroproduction from the proton," by A.C. Postuma et al (KaonLT Collaboration), which will be submitted to Physics Letters B.

Steps to reproduce

The total systematic error is computed as the quadrature sum of the error of fitting (sys_fitting), uncertainty resulting from cut dependence (sys_cutdep), and beam polarization uncertainty (sys_beampol). The fitting error is unidirectional: if sys_fitting is less than (greater than) zero, it is added to the lower (upper) systematic uncertainty sys_down (sys_up).
