Impact of Perform, Achieve, and Trade scheme on decarbonizing Indian industrial production: A PSM DiD approach

Our sample includes 1885 firms from the iron & steel sector , and 1811 from the textile sector . Out of the 1885 companies considered in the iron & steel sector, 46 have plants obligated as DCs, and these 46 firms own 48 of the 67 plants listed by BEE under PAT cycle 1. Of the 1811 companies considered in the textile sector, 49 have plants classified as DCs, and these 49 companies own 64 of the 90 plants recognized by BEE. Our sample data represents roughly 71.6% of all DCs in the iron & steel sector and 71.1% of all DCs in the textile sector. We believe this coverage represents the DC landscape in the relevant industries.

Steps to reproduce
Commercial data is used in this paper. Two industries—textiles, and iron & steel—are the subjects of our analysis. For an 11-year period (2005-2015), we utilized firm-level data from the Indian iron & steel textile sector. The main source of information was the Prowess IQ database, which collected firm-level time series data on financial metrics for Indian businesses. The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy Pvt. Ltd. (CMIE) developed this database, which comprises private limited firms, corporations, and unlisted public limited enterprises and corporations that are listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange. The database is compiled from trustworthy sources, such as feeds from stock exchanges, annual reports, quarterly financial statements, and other sources that have undergone independent verification. A special priority was information regarding businesses that have access to power and fuel expenditure data.
