Effect of Rope Skipping on Health Promotion in Female College students:An Empirical Study

based on the realistic needs of college girls physical and mental health development, this study adopted quasi-experimental design to systematically explore the multi-dimensional promotion effect of rope skipping on college girls physical and mental health. 120 female students in a university were selected as the research objects, and structured rope skipping intervention was conducted for 60 minutes each time, 3 times a week for 16 weeks. Body composition, cardiopulmonary function and exercise quality were detected by combining physiological indexes. The psychological scale was evaluated by depression-anxiety-stress scale, body satisfaction questionnaire and exercise pleasure scale to comprehensively analyze the health promotion mechanism of rope skipping. The results showed that after 16 weeks of intervention, the maximum oxygen intake of girls in the experimental group increased by 13.2%, the percentage of body fat decreased by 3.2%, the waist circumference decreased by 4.2 cm, the muscle mass increased by 1.2 kg, the explosive force of lower limbs increased by 12.5%, and the static balance ability increased by 40%. At the psychological level, the anxiety level decreased by 34.5%, the body satisfaction increased by 27.3%, and the exercise pleasure was significantly enhanced. This study provides empirical evidence for the reform of college physical education curriculum, confirms that rope skipping is a high-quality sports event with both fitness effect and female adaptability, and suggests that it should be popularized and applied in college physical education.

A stratified random sampling method enrolled 120 full-time undergraduate female students from a university. Eligibility required participants to be 19-22 years old, have a BMI of 18.5-24.9 kg/m², engage in less than 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity exercise, and have no cardiovascular or musculoskeletal disorders or other exercise contraindications. Recruitment was through campus announcements and class mobilization. After health assessments and baseline measurements, participants were randomly assigned to the experimental (n=60) or control group (n=60). Baseline characteristics, including age (20.3±1.2 years for the experimental group and 20.1±1.3 years for the control group) and BMI (21.5±1.8 kg/m² for the experimental group and 21.2±1.6 kg/m² for the control group), showed no significant differences (P>.05), confirming group comparability. During the study, 4 participants from the experimental group withdrew due to scheduling conflicts, and 3 from the control group withdrew for personal reasons, resulting in final sample sizes of 56 and 57, respectivelThe experimental group participated in a 16-week structured rope skipping program, led by nationally certified instructors. Sessions lasted 60 minutes and occurred on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons, divided into three distinct stages. In the first four weeks of training, the focus is on mastering basic jump rope techniques such as the single swing jump, knee lift open jump, and pendulum jump. The main goals are to develop correct skipping posture, control rhythm, and maintain exercise intensity at 60-70% of maximum heart rate. Heart rate is monitored in real-time using a heart rate belt. Weeks 5-12 Improvement Phase: Introduce individual movement patterns such as winding jumps, cross jumps, double fly jumps, salute jumps, and crotch jumps. Gradually increase movement complexity and exercise intensity while maintaining heart rate at 70-85% of its maximum. Weeks 13-16, focus on double pattern training, incorporating exercises such as double synchronous jumps, wheel jumps, wheel rotations, and wheel transpositions. Emphasize group cooperation and artistic expression while maintaining exercise intensity at 70-85% of maximum heart rate. The control group did not participate in any systematic exercise intervention during the same period, maintained daily learning habits, but prohibited from participating in additional regular sports activities. (2) Measurement indicators and tools Multidimensional evaluation system was adopted in this study. Measurement was performed at three time points: before intervention, 8 weeks after intervention and 16 weeks after intervention.
