Nigeria's AfT-Trade Costs Dataset
Description
This dataset contains annual bilateral trade cost measures between Nigeria and 198 trading partners from 2005 to 2018, compiled for analyzing the impact of Aid for Trade (AfT) on Nigeria's trade costs across different sectors. The dataset combines trade cost data with AfT flows and standard gravity model variables.

Steps to reproduce
This dataset was constructed by integrating multiple publicly available sources using a systematic approach. Trade cost data was downloaded from the ESCAP-World Bank Trade Cost Database, filtered for Nigeria as origin country across 198 partner countries from 2005-2018, then reshaped from wide to long format and log-transformed for econometric analysis. Aid for Trade disbursement data was extracted from the OECD Creditor Reporting System using their online OECD.Stat database, querying for Nigeria as recipient with all AfT sector codes, then aggregated to create total AfT variables with 1- and 2-year lags for instrumental variable analysis. Control variables were obtained from the World Bank World Development Indicators (GDP per capita for Nigeria and partner countries, real effective exchange rate), CEPII GeoDist database (bilateral distance, contiguity, common language), and official WTO/ECOWAS records (membership status).
