Description

Replication Files for "Can Property Tax Curb Housing Costs in China? New Insights from Chongqing with Bayesian Synthetic Control" by Jinyu ZHANG, Yinghan TANG, Tianyi LIU and Yuan ZHANG This folder contains the following files and subfolders: The main folder contains the primary simulation and empirical computation programs. S1.R-S8.R are R code for simulations scenario S1- S8, respectively which is under the environment "R version 4.2.2 (2022-10-31 ucrt)", and the random number generation method "Mersenne-Twister" "Inversion" " Rejection". empirical.R is R code for Empirical study, which is under the environment "R version 4.0.5 (2021-03-31)", and the random number generation method "Mersenne-Twister" "Inversion" "Rounding". Despite setting the random seed, variations in different versions of R and differences in random number generation methods may cause slight differences in the results. In our study, these variations typically occur at the 1% level and do not affect my conclusions. Since running the programs takes a long time, we have stored the results in the data folder. The result folder includes scripts for reproducing all the figures and tables in the paper. For Table 1, simply run t1.R. For Figure 1, simply run f1.R, and so on. Note: Before running any .R files, please make sure to update your file paths accordingly. bscm-master is a subfolder containing Rstan code and data needed to replicate simulation and empirical results. Please make sure to update the file path in the code above to reflect the location of this folder. The first time you run RStan, it may be slow because RStan is configuring the .rds files on your machine.
