Description

This dataset contains statistical indicators of gully morphology parameters collected from 350 sampled plots on the Tibetan Plateau, including median, mean, maximum, and minimum values for gully length, width, and area.

Steps to reproduce

Surveys were conducted according to previous gully definitions, and features similar to but distinguishable from gullies, such as valley landforms, rock textures, debris flows, shallow landslides, thermokarst slumps, snowmelt mudflows, and frost cracks. High-resolution images from Google Earth, Omap and Bigemap, were used to measure gullies in each sample area in this study. The resolution of these images ranged between 0.2 and 0.6 m. A total of 350 sampling areas, each measuring 1×1 km, were randomly selected for gully morphological parameters measurement. Width measurements were obtained at three cross-sections for gullies with large width variability, and at one middle cross-section for gullies with uniform width. The area of each gully was calculated by multiplying its length by its average width. A total of 14159 gullies across 350 sample areas were measured.
