This data analyzes how sustainability communication is understood and implemented by small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Latvia, identifying key challenges and opportunieties. The study indicates that sustainability communication is primarly used to boost sales, strengthen branding and enhance reputation.

Steps to reproduce

Data was collected online in Latvia. The general selection of participants was carried out based on the NACE Rev. 2 statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community, which ensures a unified standard and methodology for classifying economic activities across all EU Member States. This approach is widely used and also provides data for policymakers when designing various sector-specific support measures, taking into account the specific characteristics of different industries. The data is raw material for study "Understanding and Implementing Sustainability Communication in SMEs". The data can be used: - to assess separately how enterprises understand and imlement sustainbility communication; -compare sustainability communication approaches among SMEs based on firm characteristics such as size, sector, or sustainbaility communication focus; -provide evidence-based insights in sustainability communication for policymakers and practitioners when developing targeted support measures and guidelines for SMEs.
