Description

This dataset contains information gathered from Cable-TV subscribers in Nigeria. The aim of the research was to understand how the pricing strategy in Nigeria’s Cable-TV industry affects the welfare of subscribers. Consumer welfare was captured as the difference between market prices and consumers' willingness-to-pay (WTP). These variables are captured in the dataset. The research instrument used contains four sections, capturing background information on consumers' socioeconomic characteristics, consumption patterns of Cable-TV services, product and pricing preferences, and general opinions of consumers on the operations of the Cable-TV industry. Please note that Cable-TV as used in the research instrument and in this study also refers to Pay-TV, which is a set of TV channels that involve paid subscriptions before consumers can gain access to view. The data was gathered via an online survey and covered respondents from different cities across Nigeria.
