Description

These data are raw turnover (squared chord distance) and floristic richness (rarefied pollen) results calculated from pollen data in our study "Long-term drivers and timing of accelerated vegetation changes in African biomes and their management implications".

Steps to reproduce

Prior to analysis, unknown/indeterminate and aquatic pollen types were excluded from all pollen data, as our focus is on terrestrial vegetation and pollen taxa were harmonized. We applied Squared Chord Distance (SCD) dissimilarity metric to estimate vegetation turnover in pollen records using the binning approach (1000-yr bin). Pollen records were rarified based on the minimum pollen sum in each record to estimate floristic/palynological richness.
