Litopenaeus vannamei anatomical segmentation subset: 148 curated top-view images with four manual masks per specimen and verified weight and size measurements (derived from Mendeley Data 10.17632/h8tcn6ykky.1)
Description
Derived from the published dataset "A Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp dataset with images and corresponding weight-size measurements for the development of artificial intelligence-based biomass estimation and organism detection algorithms" (Mendeley Data, DOI 10.17632/h8tcn6ykky.1; described in Ramírez-Coronel et al., Data in Brief 57 (2024) 110964). This dataset contains 148 curated top-view images of Litopenaeus vannamei from five databases (DB1–DB3: adults from an industrial farm; DB4–DB5: juveniles from an academic pond), one image per specimen, each a byte-identical copy of a frame of the parent dataset. Each specimen has four manual binary masks (single channel, 255 = annotated region): full body, without tail, without tail and eyes, and eyes + hepatopancreas. The release also includes weight, length and cephalothorax measurements reconciled with the parent dataset (labels.csv), a per-database pixel scale (px_por_cm_base), a crosswalk to the parent file names and to the working names of the associated article (crosswalk_p3.csv), per-mask registration offsets (offsets.csv), reference validation folds (folds.csv) and SHA-256 checksums for every file. Known limitation: the organ masks (eyes + hepatopancreas) were made by cutting the organs and pasting them on a separate layer, when only their shape and size were required. They record organ shape and size faithfully, but in 52 of 148 specimens their position does not match the animal. 36 position-corrected organ masks (*_mask_organs_corregida.png) are provided alongside the unchanged originals (35 corrected by translation, one by rotation and translation); 16 remain unresolved, mostly juveniles of DB5. The status of each specimen is given in organs_auditoria.csv. The three body masks are not affected. The original masks are kept so that the results of the associated work remain reproducible. Internal release 1.3. Documentation is in README.md (in Spanish, with the limitation section in English).

Steps to reproduce
Verify integrity with: sha256sum -c checksums.sha256 (782 files). To reproduce the results of the associated work, invert the masks (255 - m), because the pipeline takes dark pixels as the object, and run the command given in section 10 of README.md. Use the original organ masks to reproduce published figures; use *_mask_organs_corregida.png where spatial position of the organs matters.
