Dissolved thorium isotope concentrations in the South China Sea
Description
This dataset contains depth-resolved thorium isotope data collected from the South China Sea during summer and winter sampling campaigns. The Excel file includes two worksheets (“summer” and “winter”), comprising 202 seawater samples from 15 stations distributed across 111.5–119°E and 11–20°N, with sampling depths ranging from 5 to 3700 m. The reported parameters include sampling depth, excess ^230Th concentration (^230Th_xs, fg kg^−1), dissolved ^232Th concentration (pg kg^−1), estimated thorium residence time (yr), and ^232Th-derived flux (μg m^−2 yr^−1). The dataset can be used to investigate the spatial, vertical, and seasonal variability of thorium in the South China Sea and to evaluate particle scavenging, thorium cycling, lateral transport, and atmospheric dust deposition. Derived residence-time and flux values are left blank for samples where the calculations were not applicable.

Steps to reproduce
The workbook contains separate worksheets for the summer and winter sampling campaigns. Each row represents an individual seawater sample, identified by station and sampling depth. Thorium isotope concentrations and their associated standard deviations are reported in the corresponding columns. Detailed analytical procedures and calculation equations are provided in the associated manuscript.
