Description

This repository contains material specific to the article named in the title. The material includes input .dck files of the different simulation models for import into TRNSYS, including pipe calibration models and calculation sheets with values from the calibration simulation. Furthermore, there are some calculation sheets with economic calculations used for the life cycle costs and energy quantities used for the energy balance and sensitivity studies. Some calculation reports from the cost calculation software Wikells are included, together with costs from tenders and price lists of manufacturers. Price quotes have been anonymised and the manufacturer product catalogues are not included, to avoid identification of the manufacturer. This because academic work should not contain information which may used for commercial purposes (e.g. use of academic work for marketing) or affect commercial conditions (e.g. disclosing information on price structure). Additional material, such as detailed model descriptions, method descriptions and calculations is available, from a related dataset from another article using the same system models, through the supplied link. This includes the calibration of the copper pipes used in the solar thermal system. Using the information supplied in the two repositories, it should be possible to get a proper understanding of the work done and to reproduce the results.

Files

Steps to reproduce

The model input data files can be imported into TRNSYS17 in order to re-create the simulation model. Components that are non-standard and extended library must be installed in TRNSYS17 before importing to avoid failure. Components for which there are available input files should have these files connected to respective component (e.g. solar collector IAM file to ETC collector model). As the calculation sheets already contain the cost calculations, the results are not generally necessary to reproduce, but could rather be checked for correctness. Checking the related repository is regarded necessary to understand the build up of the original system on which the simulation model is based, as well as getting detailed information about the considerations made when making the model.
