Description

Three f0/d0 strontium tris-cyclopentadienyl salts, [K(2.2.2-cryptand)][SrCptet3], [K(2.2.2-cryptand)][SrCp'3], and [K(2.2.2-cryptand)][SrCp"3], have been synthesized. As diamagnetic diluents they enable the unique electronic and magnetic properties of lanthanide(II) complexes to be explored in detail. EPR spectroscopy of [K(2.2.2-cryptand)][EuCptet3] diluted in [K(2.2.2-cryptand)][SrCptet3] shows narrower linewidths allowing for the resolution of the europium hyperfine coupling.
