FOMO_ImpulseBuying
Description
This dataset supports a study of how live-stream platform cues relate to impulse buying through State-FOMO, the momentary fear of missing out, on TikTok Shop in Malaysia. It contains survey responses from 300 Malaysian consumers who each recalled one specific TikTok Shop session that ended in an unplanned purchase within the preceding three months. Three respondents under 18 were removed from the 303 collected, and the file has no missing values. The file holds one row per respondent and 115 columns. CASEID is an arbitrary case identifier. Sixty model indicators on seven-point Likert scales (1 = strongly disagree to 7 = strongly agree) measure limited quantity cues (LQC1 to LQC6), limited time cues (LTC1 to LTC7), social proof cues (SPC1 to SPC2), Trait-FOMO (TFM1 to TFM5), State-FOMO (SFM1 to SFM5), consumer self-control (CSC1 to CSC12), price consciousness (PRC1 to PRC5), BNPL purchase facilitation (BPF1 to BPF5), perceived ease of use (PEU1 to PEU4) and impulse buying (IMB1 to IMB9). Four marker items (MKR1 to MKR4, attitude towards the colour blue) serve only the common-method test. Controls, demographics and usage variables carry numeric codes (age, gender, income, prior purchase intention, ethnicity, education, occupation, shopping frequency, daily browsing, amount spent, purchase timing and BNPL use), and multiple-response binary fields record product categories and purchase triggers. Reverse-worded items (LTC6, LTC7 and IMB8) are already reverse-scored, so every item is keyed in the same direction. The accompanying codebook gives each item as administered, its source scale and all value labels. Participation was voluntary and anonymous with informed consent, the study received research ethics approval, and the file contains no personally identifying information.

Steps to reproduce
Import the file into SmartPLS 4 and assign indicators to constructs per the codebook. Estimate the model with State-FOMO mediating the three cue effects on impulse buying, Trait-FOMO moderating each cue to State-FOMO link and the four coping resources moderating the State-FOMO to impulse buying link, using two-stage interaction terms, with age, gender, income and prior purchase intention as controls on impulse buying. Bootstrap with 10,000 subsamples and one-tailed tests. The marker items enter a separate run for the common-method check and are not part of the structural model.
