Description

This dataset contains spectral and elemental data collected from soil and charred material samples in the Cerrado biome, under different fire management regimes (prescribed fire and no fire). Spectral data were acquired using: Mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy (4000–400 cm⁻¹) Visible–near infrared (Vis-NIR) spectroscopy (350–2500 nm) X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for elemental analysis Data are organized by material type (soil or charred material), spectroscopy method, and granulometric fraction (coarse and fine). Each spreadsheet includes sample IDs, fire management information, and spectral or elemental values. These data support modeling of total carbon (TC) and pyrogenic carbon (PC) using spectroscopic techniques.

Steps to reproduce

Open the Excel files provided (separately for soil and charred material). Select the corresponding sheet for MIR, Vis-NIR, or XRF data. Filter the data by particle size or fire management treatment if needed. Use the spectral data as input for regression models (e.g., PLSR) to predict TC and PC. Match sample IDs across files to cross-reference elemental and spectral data.
