Description

This dataset contains the replication package for “De-concentrating Integration? Spatial Concentration, Trade Access, Local Fundamentals, and Welfare.” The package reproduces the results reported in the manuscript version associated with this release from included analysis-ready inputs and validated intermediate files. It includes code, input files, documented run order, a file manifest, smoke-test plan, and output tables and figures. The public package begins from analysis-ready inputs and validated intermediates. Restricted or externally obtained upstream raw sources are not included; their role is documented in the accompanying provenance notes. Version 2 update: Version 2 adds the data, Stata code, and final PDF/PNG outputs for the revised Figure 1 and updates the README, file manifest, run order, smoke-test plan, and figure-status documentation accordingly. No numerical model results, counterfactual results, decomposition results, gravity estimates, or reported table values changed relative to Version 1.

Steps to reproduce

1. Download and unzip JUE_replication_package_v2_0_0.zip. 2. Open README.md in the package root. The package root is the folder containing README.md, VERSION_2_CHANGES.md, file_manifest.csv, and the three run_all_*.do scripts. 3. Install/use Stata 17 or newer and MATLAB. The package was assembled and tested on Windows. 4. For the quick table replication, open Stata from the package root and run: do "run_all_model_results.do" 5. For gravity figures and Appendix Table A1, open MATLAB from the package root and run: run('code/figures/make_gravity_figures_and_tableA1.m') run('code/figures/check_tableA1_gravity_numbers.m') 6. For the full gravity-output rebuild, open Stata from the package root and run: do "run_all_gravity.do" 7. Additional model-generation and verification workflows are documented in documentation/run_order.md and documentation/smoke_test_plan.md. The public package begins from included analysis-ready inputs and validated intermediate files. Optional upstream provenance workflows requiring separately obtained external source files are documented but are outside the core run order.
