Raw labor force participation and population data was collected from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the U.S. Census Bureau. We calculate labor force participation rates for each county in West Virginia as the labor force in each county divided by the population between the ages of 16-64 in each county. Raw economic, demographic and social data was collected from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), the BLS, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), U.S. Census Bureau, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Kids Count Data Center - Annie E. Casey Foundation, the National Centers for Environmental, Information, the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey, the West Virginia Office of Miners' Health Safety and Training, and the Highway Performance Monitoring System.
