THE INFLUENCE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TOOLS ON STUDY HABITS AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF COLLEGE STUDENTS
Description
This study used a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design to examine the influence of Artificial Intelligence tools on the learning behaviors and academic performance of college students. The descriptive method was used to identify and describe the experiences, perceptions, and patterns of using AI tools in their academic tasks. Meanwhile, the correlational method was used to determine the relationship between the extent of AI tool use and students’ academic performance. The research design is what allows the researcher to systematically collect numerical data, examine trends and relationships among variables, and provide objective knowledge about how AI technologies affect students’ learning behaviors and academic outcomes

The data in this study were gathered through a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design involving 100 purposively selected college students who regularly use Artificial Intelligence tools for academic purposes. A validated researcher-made questionnaire utilizing a 5-point Likert Scale was employed to measure the respondents’ AI tool usage, study habits, and academic performance. Prior to data collection, permission was secured from school administrators, and respondents were informed about the purpose of the study, voluntary participation, and confidentiality of responses. The questionnaires were distributed personally by the researcher and retrieved after completion to ensure a high response rate and data accuracy. After collection, the responses were checked, encoded, and organized using spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel and analyzed using statistical software, including SPSS or equivalent tools. Frequency and percentage were used to describe the demographic profile of respondents, weighted mean was utilized to determine the level of influence of AI tools on study habits and academic performance, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient (Pearson-r) was applied to determine the significant relationship between AI tool usage and academic performance. This systematic workflow and statistical procedure allow future researchers to replicate the study using similar respondents, instruments, data collection protocols, and analytical methods.
