Volcanic risk, uncertainty and destination image: Media narratives of the El Hierro eruption_NEWSPAPERS DATASET

Description

This database contains 2,073 press articles and news items published between July 22nd and December 31st, 2011, related to the submarine volcano eruption that occurred in El Hierro Island (Canary Islands). It includes a diverse range of journalistic pieces, including news articles, editorials, interviews, records, reports, reviews and opinion pieces, sourced from both regional and national newspapers. The period under analysis coincided with the initial appearance of press articles on the subject and extends through the entire time of the underwater eruption. The database was compiled with Microsoft Excel. The analysis of the journalistic records was conducted in RStudio using various packages.
