Steps to reproduce

•Gel Fabrication: Cylindrical agarose gel samples with a concentration of 2% w/v were prepared using NEOGEN Agar, Bacteriological (European Type) No. 2 powder, following the protocol outlined in “J. Blackwell. Mechanical evaluation of ovine brain tissue using rheometry and shear wave ultrasound elastography. PhD thesis, University of Galway, Ireland, 2025, https://doi.org/10.13025/16357”. •Mechanical testing protocol: Ramp-and-hold relaxation tests were performed on cylindrical samples with a diameter of approximately 25mm and a height of approximately 10mm using an Anton Paar MCR 302e rotational rheometer with parallel plate geometry. Each sample was tested at a twist rate of 40rad/m/s, with the final value of the twist fixed at 25rad/m. Each test consisted of two phases: a ramp phase, during which the twist was increased linearly to 25rad/m over 0.63s, followed by a 200s hold phase, during which the twist value reached at the end of the ramp phase was maintained. Only the torque and axial force required to maintain the sample in its deformed state during the hold phase were recorded versus time. No pre-conditioning was performed, the axial pre-stretch was assumed to be negligible and each sample was tested only once before being discarded. A total of 10 samples (labelled S1–S10) were tested. •Data Structure: Within each worksheet, the columns are Time [s], Twist [rad/m], Twist Rate [rad/m/s], Torque [Nm], Filtered Torque [Nm], Force [N] and Filtered Force [N]. The raw torque and force data were filtered using the MATLAB function sgolayfilt, with a polynomial order of 7 and a frame length of 101. •Sample Geometry: The exact sample heights [mm] recorded by the rheometer before each test are listed in the worksheet "Sample Geometry".
