Data and supplementary materials for a systematic literature review on AI-generated images as educational visual resources
Description
This dataset contains the search, screening, study selection, and data extraction materials supporting a systematic literature review on the evaluation of AI-generated images as educational visual resources. The repository includes the search strategies, retrieved bibliographic records, screening decisions, included studies, standardized data extraction matrix, and PRISMA 2020 flow diagram. A total of 64 studies were included in the final review corpus. The dataset was cleaned, standardized, and prepared to support transparency, methodological traceability, and reproducibility of the review.

Steps to reproduce
The systematic literature review was conducted through the following stages: 1. Two search chains (C1 and C2) were defined according to the research questions and eligibility criteria. 2. The searches were conducted across the bibliographic databases documented in the search strategy. 3. Retrieved records were consolidated and duplicate records were removed. 4. Records were screened according to the predefined eligibility criteria. 5. Potentially eligible studies were selected for full-text retrieval. 6. Studies for which the full text could not be recovered were excluded from the retrievable corpus. 7. The remaining studies were assessed for eligibility and the final corpus of 64 included studies was established. 8. Data were systematically extracted from the included studies using a structured extraction matrix. 9. Extracted variables were cleaned and standardized to ensure consistency across the dataset. 10. The study selection process was documented using a PRISMA 2020 flow diagram. The complete search strategy, retrieved records, screening decisions, included studies, data extraction matrix, and PRISMA 2020 diagram are provided in the corresponding folders of this dataset.
