Description

This is the dataset for the journal article "Magmatic volatile budgets of the 2014 Tavurvur eruption at Rabaul Caldera, Papua New Guinea" published in Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research in July 2026 (DOI: 10.1016/j.jvolgeores.2026.108683) We analysed 84 plagioclase-, clinopyroxene- and olivine-hosted melt inclusions from 2014 Tavurvur volcanic bombs for major, trace and volatile elements (H2O, CO2, SO2, Cl, F) by EPMA, Raman, and SIMS and corrected them for post-entrapment crystallisation. File S1: Extended description of analytical conditions and precision and accuracy for the analytical methods used in this study, as well as supplementary figures. File S2: EPMA major element and SIMS volatile and trace element compositions of melt inclusions from the 2014 Tavurvur volcanic bombs. File S3: EPMA compositions of melt inclusion host minerals and matrix glasses from the 2014 Tavurvur volcanic bombs. File S4: Raman data for the 2014 Tavurvur melt inclusion shrinkage bubbles.
