OSTEOGENIC INTER-ARM ASYMMETRIES IN TENNIS PLAYERS AGED 8-30 YEARS
Description
This data were produced from previous published data on osteogenic lateralization in the upper limbs of tennis players aged about 8 to 30 years. Using advanced analysis methods like simulated data, bootstrapping, Kernel fitting, and Shapley’s relative importance in meta-regressions we estimated % bone asymmetry according to sex, pubertal status, bone trait (BMC vs BA), arm segment (upper vs lower). We thus generated a comprehensive evidence regarding degree of osteogenic lateralization due to tennis, the hierarchy of the factors implicated in this process, and the age-progressing change of bone asymmetries according to sex and maturity status. The results are useful in the general context of upper limb growth literalities and bilateral adaptations-differences based on the highly lateralized sport of Tennis.
