Description

This replication package supports the study “ETS or Carbon Taxes? Context-Dependent Evidence from Global Industrial Decarbonization.” The study uses a panel dataset covering 190 countries over the period 1990–2024 to compare the effects of emissions trading systems (ETS) and carbon taxes on per capita CO₂ emissions from industrial fuel combustion. The dataset contains policy indicators for ETS and carbon tax adoption, industrial combustion CO₂ emissions, and energy-related control variables. The empirical analysis applies fixed-effects specifications and a staggered difference-in-differences framework with group-time average treatment effects to examine baseline policy effects, comparative effects of ETS and carbon taxes, dynamic treatment effects, placebo tests, and heterogeneity across income groups. The replication materials are provided to facilitate transparency, reproducibility, and further research on carbon pricing and industrial decarbonization.
