The effect of acupressure on vaccine-induced pain in infants: A randomized placebo-controlled trial

The dataset includes the evaluation of the effect of acupressure on vaccine-induced pain in children. The study investigated the differences in pain scale scores among infants in the acupressure, placebo, and control groups. The findings indicated that the acupressure group reported reduced pain levels. We collected data via questionnaires. The researcher recorded the infants' heart rates, peripheral oxygen saturation levels, and demographic data. We used the FLACC pain scale to assess the infants' pain levels.

Steps to reproduce
Dataset was gathered utilizing a data collection form, pulse oximeter, weighing scale, measuring tape, FLACC pain scale, and stopwatch. Data was obtained through questionnaires. The investigator recorded the infants' heart rates, peripheral oxygen saturation levels, and demographic information. We used the FLACC pain scale to evaluate the pain levels of the infants. We assessed each infant's heart rate and SpO2 levels utilizing a calibrated Covidien Nellcor PM10N portable pulse oximeter. Researchers used a calibrated EBSA-20 scale, with a sensitivity of 20 grams, to assess each infant's body weight prior to vaccination. The height and head circumference of each infant in the trial were measured prior to vaccination with a rigid plastic measuring tape indicated in 0.1 cm increments. Researchers quantified the crying duration of each infant in the study utilizing the stopwatch function on an Apple iPhone 6s Plus. Before the study commenced, ethical approval was obtained from the Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Ethics Committee (dated 29/04/2021 and numbered E-74555795-199-87939). Prior to data collection, the researcher informed the parents about the study and obtained their verbal and written consent using an informed consent form.
