Description

This dataset contains measurements of plant species diversity, vegetation biomass, soil physicochemical properties, soil carbon fractions, and climatic variables collected from permafrost regions of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau. It was compiled to support investigations of the relationships among plant diversity, vegetation productivity, soil carbon dynamics, and environmental conditions in alpine ecosystems. The dataset comprises 102 observations from 58 sampling sites, which are classified into three vegetation types: AS, AM, and AWM. Plant species diversity is characterized using four commonly used indices: the Shannon diversity index, Simpson diversity index, Margalef richness index, and Pielou evenness index. Vegetation characteristics include aboveground biomass (AGB) and belowground biomass (BGB). Soil physicochemical variables include soil moisture content (SMC) and soil pH. Soil carbon-related variables include soil organic carbon (SOC), particulate organic carbon (POC), mineral-associated organic carbon (MAOC), and the ratio of POC to MAOC (POC:MAOC). Climatic variables include mean annual temperature (MAT) and mean annual precipitation (MAP), which represent the regional thermal and moisture conditions, respectively. This dataset can be used to investigate the coupling relationships among plant species diversity, vegetation productivity, soil carbon fractions, and hydrothermal conditions in permafrost ecosystems of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, and may provide useful data support for studies of biodiversity maintenance, soil carbon cycling, and ecosystem responses to climate change in alpine regions.
