Description

The dataset consists of detailed results summary of whole life cycle assessments (WBLCA), as well as primary report of extracted external building partitions and calculated respective energy needs and costs of a case study building located in Lithuania. Different WBLCA options are related to building envelope improvement measures, considered during energy audit of the same case study building. More detailed description of energy audit and WBLCA procedures conducted can be found in the study "Digitizing Buildings Sustainability Assessment: Integrating Energy Audits, Operational Energy Assessments, and Life Cycle Assessments for Enhanced Building Assessment" conducted by Paulius Spudys, Andrius Jurelionis and Paris Fokaides. The study emphasizes the needs of considering building envelope energy efficiency and embodied carbon ratio as well as the need of adopting a holistic approach when evaluating the sustainability performance of buildings. The provided material supplements the results provided in the research article and provides more in depth overview of different building improvement options.

Steps to reproduce

A detailed description of data extraction from IFC file algorithm and the following procedures is presented in a study entitled "Conducting smart energy audits of buildings with the use of building information modelling" conducted by Paulius Spudys, Andrius Jurelionis and Paris Fokaides. As far as life cycle assessment is considered, the detailed results of analysis are presented. WBLCA was performed using assessment software for case study building. The Ecoinvent database and the OneClickLCA software were used for the analysis. An IFC file was used to transfer the standardized primary building geometry and material data into the software. As the primary information was uploaded and validated, software provides the results that were analysed in the referred study and included in this dataset.
