Circumventing the Snoek Limit Restrictions in FeSiAl Alloys for Superior L/S-band Microwave Absorption via Synergistic Microstructural Engineering
Description
This dataset contains the experimental and processed data supporting the manuscript "Circumventing the Snoek Limit Restrictions in FeSiAl Alloys for Superior L/S-band Microwave Absorption via Synergistic Microstructural Engineering" (submitted to Journal of Alloys and Compounds). Commercial spherical FeSiAl (FSA, Fe-9.6 wt% Si-5.4 wt% Al) powders were ball-milled (planetary mill QM-3SP4, zirconia balls, ball-to-powder ratio 20:1, 250 rpm, argon atmosphere) for 10, 20, 30 and 40 h. Sample naming: "AR"/"org" = as-received (0 h); 10h–40h = milled durations. For electromagnetic testing, powders were mixed with paraffin wax at 80:20 mass ratio and compacted into toroidal rings (ID 3.04 mm, OD 7.00 mm, thickness 2.00 mm); complex permittivity and permeability were measured by VNA (Agilent 5234A) over 1–18 GHz. Contents: one CSV per figure topic (Figure_2: XRD patterns; Figure_3: mu', mu'', eps', eps'' and loss tangents (underlies Fig. 3 and 4); Figure_5: impedance matching |Zin/Z0| and attenuation constant; Figure_6: reflection loss vs frequency at 2.0–3.0 mm in 0.2 mm increments for all samples, the data behind Fig. 6a–f; Figure_7: RL derivative analysis and matching-thickness comparison; Figure_8: IAE of reported absorbers, emphasizing the L/S band, digitized from the cited literature), original SEM micrographs (TIFF, JSM-6700F, Fig. 2a–e); rendered PNG figures for quick viewing; and Origin 2021 project files (.opju) for Figures 2–8 with full working sheets. A README.txt in the root folder documents instruments, sample naming and file conventions. Note: Fig. 3 shows only AR/30h/40h curves over 1–14 GHz for clarity, while the uploaded data contain the full 1–18 GHz spectra of all five samples; Fig. 4 (Cole-Cole) uses all five samples.
