Description

This dataset holds the experimental data collected during a hydroponic study on how cadmium chloride (CdCl₂) affects 18 rice (Oryza sativa L.) genotypes. The study tested four levels of cadmium chloride: Control (0 µM) 150 µM 200 µM and 250 µM. For each genotype and each treatment level there were three biological replicates. The dataset includes the measurements used to calculate several key parameters: germination percentage (GP) promptness index (PI) shoot toxicity (ST) root toxicity (RT) tolerance index (TI) relative water content (RWC) and seedling vigor index (SVI). Each of these parameters is stored in a worksheet to keep the original data intact and unaltered. These data are the foundation for the analyses in the paper titled Assessment of Cadmium Chloride in Rice (Oryza sativa L.), in Hydroponics Culture. The dataset is made available to allow others to access the experimental observations. This supports transparency helps ensure reproducibility and enables reuse of the research results

Steps to reproduce

1. I choose viable seeds from the 18 rice genotypes used in the study. 2. I surface sterilized the seeds with a sodium hypochlorite solution and rinse them with distilled water before sowing. 3. I arranged the experiment with four treatment groups: Control (0 µM CdCl₂) 150 µM CdCl₂ 200 µM CdCl₂ and 250 µM CdCl₂. Use three biological replicates for each genotype and treatment. 4. I germinated 20 seeds per replicate in sterilised plates and apply 3 mL of the corresponding treatment solution at the specified intervals, during the germination period. 5. I transferred seedlings to Hoagland’s nutrient solution kept at a pH of 5.5–6.5 and apply the corresponding cadmium treatments every seven days under controlled hydroponic conditions. 6. I recorded germination and seedling observations throughout the experiment and measure root length shoot length and other seedling traits after the period. 7. I used the observations supplied in this dataset to calculate germination percentage (GP), promptness index (PI), tolerance index (TI), seedling vigor index (SVI), shoot toxicity (ST), root toxicity (RT) and relative water content (RWC) following the formulas described in the associated manuscript.
