The datasets presented in this companion document comprise adapted IEEE RTS 24-bus, 118-bus and 300-bus hydrothermal test systems that have been extensively used in the author's research on Hydrothermal Optimal Power Flow (HOPF). The database includes all information required for both nonlinear and convex optimization models, including bus and branch data, thermal generating unit data, hydroelectric generating unit data, and reservoir parameters associated with hydroelectric plants. This document provides a complete description of these datasets, supporting the reproducibility, validation, and benchmarking of hydrothermal power system optimization studies.

Steps to reproduce

The datasets were developed by adapting the original IEEE 24-bus and 118-bus test systems to represent hydrothermal power systems. The electrical network data, including bus and branch parameters, were obtained from the original IEEE test systems, while the hydroelectric generation and reservoir data were derived from real-world hydropower characteristics and from published references cited throughout this document. Thermal generation data were retained or adapted as required to create representative hydrothermal systems. The methodology adopted to construct and adapt the datasets, together with all assumptions and parameter definitions, is fully described in this companion document. Complete information regarding the sources of the data and the corresponding references is provided throughout the document, allowing the datasets to be reproduced and further extended by other researchers.
