Data Summary of Ob/Ob rats with Telmisartan
Description
Dataset containing behavioral outcomes from passive avoidance testing in control, Ob/Ob , and Ob/Ob + telmisartan-treated rats. Memory retention was evaluated at short-term (2h) and long-term (24h) intervals using latency measurements. Additionally, metabolic profile, blood pressure levels, nitric oxide, superoxide dismutase and catalase were obtained, the latter in serum and/or plasma samples. We found that telmisartan treatment substantially improved antioxidant system activity and nitric oxide bioavailability, independently of improvements in glucose, lipid, and blood pressure profiles. This significantly improved memory response, which is integrated at the level of the entorhinal cortex-dentate gyrus-hippocampus circuit.

The animals received oral telmisartan treatment for 7 days. Review experimental design.
