Description

The vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) is an abnormal pathway that runs between the bladder and the vagina, permitting urine to be continuously discharged into the vagina inadvertently. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transfoming growth factor ß (TGF ß), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and endothelial growth factor (EGF) and adhesion proteins that play a role in tissue healing are found [7]. It can promote cell migration, proliferation, differentiation, angiogenesis and removal of tissue debris through growth factors and chemical mediators [7,8]. As a result, PRP can accelerate the closure of the fistula line by helping tissue repair, healing and regeneration.
