A combined convenience sampling and snowball sampling approach was used to conduct a questionnaire survey of 502 Chinese international students studying in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and South Korea. Four scales were administered: generative AI dependence, perceived capability deterioration, diminished self-efficacy, and psychological capital depletion. Using SPSS 26.0, AMOS 26.0, and CEFAtool 3.04, structural equation modeling (SEM) was performed; Bootstrap resampling (5,000 samples) and the AmosEstimandVB code were applied to test direct effects, mediating effects, and serial (chain) mediation effects.
