Description

This dataset supports the research article "A method for better mapping of susceptibility to thaw hazards in data-scarce cold regions" . The dataset contains spatial coordinates (latitude and longitude in WGS84) of 534 field-verified thaw hazard sites in Qinghai Province, China, classified into three types (thaw slumps, solifluction, and thaw settlement), compiled through an integrated multi-source approach combining satellite remote sensing (Landsat-8, GF-1, GF-2, ZY-3), comprehensive field surveys conducted between 2019 and 2022, and UAV-based detailed characterization. Additionally, the dataset includes a high-resolution thaw hazard susceptibility map for Qinghai Province generated using the TabPFN machine learning model, with pixel values representing susceptibility probabilities ranging from 0 (lowest) to 1 (highest). The study area covers Qinghai Province on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (31°39′–39°19′N, 89°35′–103°04′E), with data temporal coverage from 2015 to 2022.
