Description

This dataset reflects the physical and chemical composition determined in soils from the municipal solid waste landfill area in the province of Cienfuegos (Cuba) conducted in 2023. Solid samples were collected in different zones within the landfill, destined for different types of solid waste. The sampling point location was randomly selected, taking a sample composed of 5 subsamples. A control station(not influenced by the landfill contamination) outside the study area was established. In the laboratory, the samples were dried at ≤60 ◦C or freeze-dried and ground to powder in agata mill, and sieved through a 125-micron mesh. The fraction smaller than 125 microns was determinate soil elemental composition by Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer (EDXRF). Replicate analysis (n = 3) of the reference materials PACS-3 and MESS-4 showed strong consistency between certified and analytical values, with accuracy levels>90 % and relative standard deviations below 10 %.
