This multicenter retrospective study included 684 consecutive patients with AM treated at five melanoma centers in China between February 2011 and November 2022. All patients were the native Chinese individuals. Inclusion criteria were: (1) A definitive diagnosis of NAAM or DNAM based on pathological examination, clinical history, and physical examination; (2) Patients with experiencing radical surgery. Exclusion criteria were: (1) Pathology specimens that could not be reassessed due to storage at institutions other than the five participating centers, and lack of nevus association information in the pathological report; (2) Inability to determine if AM was derived from a pre-existing nevus based on physical examination and medical history; (3) Stage IV patients; and (4) Patients with a second primary tumor. Ultimately, 482 patients with AM were included in the retrospective analysis.
