Ukraine's Official UAH Exchange Rate to USD and EUR, Annual Average, 1996-2025
Description
This dataset provides the official annual average exchange rate of the Ukrainian hryvnia to the US dollar and to the euro (ECU before 1999) for 1996-2025, together with the year-over-year percentage change (devaluation rate) for each currency pair. The annual average is calculated as the arithmetic mean of the twelve official monthly average rates published by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) for each calendar year. METHODOLOGY & SOURCES All monthly and annual average rates are taken directly from the NBU's own official archive of average exchange rates and are not modified, only aggregated to the annual level and used to calculate year-over-year devaluation. Before 2020, the NBU published rates per 100 units of foreign currency; these have been converted to a per-1-unit basis for consistency across the full series. The euro figures for 1996-1998 refer to the ECU (European Currency Unit), the euro's direct predecessor, as officially quoted in the NBU archive for that period.
