Description

This dataset comprises 7444 audio files containing acoustic signal samples recorded using a 44.1KHz microphone (in .au format) during the milling of mild steel with a tungsten carbide tool on a BFW YF1 vertical milling machine. Various combinations of feed (5mm and 10 mm), speed (250 rpm and 500 rpm), and depth of cut (0.25mm, 0.50mm, 0.75mm,1.0mm) were used, and surface roughness values measured using a Carl Zeiss E-35B profile-meter are provided for each combination as a .xlsx file.

Steps to reproduce

The dataset can be reproduced by milling mild steel workpiece with a tungsten carbide tool on a BFW YF1 vertical milling machine. Various combinations of feed (5mm and 10 mm), speed (250 rpm and 500 rpm), and depth of cut (0.25mm, 0.50mm, 0.75mm,1.0mm) will yield the corresponding subsets of this dataset. Surface roughness values need to be measured using a Carl Zeiss E-35B profile-meter.
