Hydrometeorological Disasters and Leptospirosis in Brazil, 2007–2024
Description
This dataset contains the aggregated analytical data used to investigate the impact of hydrometeorological disasters on leptospirosis incidence in Brazil between 2007 and 2024. For each disaster, the municipality and week of occurrence were identified, with the disaster week defined as week 0. The number of confirmed leptospirosis cases and the population were obtained for the corresponding municipality for each relative week, from −104 to +11 weeks. Cases and population were then summed across municipalities for each relative week, and incidence was calculated from these aggregated values. The dataset includes 6,106 disaster events and 708,296 municipality-week observations. The variable k indicates the week relative to the disaster, with k = 0 representing the week of disaster occurrence. A data dictionary and README describing the variables, data sources, and processing procedures are provided with the dataset.
