Description

This dataset contains the numerical data and analysis resources supporting the study of non-uniform background noise distortion in reversed start-stop time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC) measurements. The manuscript uses forward-inverse statistical testing method to test the mathematical model for background noise in reversed start-stop TCSPC measurements. Accordingly, the authors generated synthetic datasets to mimic different experimental conditions in reversed start-stop TCSPC measurement scheme using Monte-Carlo simulations. A rigorous data analysis is then performed on these synthetic datasets and the estimated results are compared to the simulation conditions. In the data repository, the deposited materials include simulated TCSPC histograms, simulation parameters details, data-fitting results for the simulated data, profile-likelihood scan results for primary parameters and numerical data underlying the figures and tables. Source code and instructions for reproducing the simulations and fitting procedures are also provided.
